• Pronóstico de la hemorragia intracerebral

    El período más crítico de la HIC es el de las primeras 24 horas durante las cuales ocurren el 40% del total de las muertes. Otro 45% de las muertes acontecen durante la primera semana. El mecanismo más frecuente de estas muertes precoces es la lesión del tronco cerebral, directa en las hemorragias de tronco o por compresión producida por hernias transtentoriales o foraminales.

    El volumen de hemorragia intracraneal así como el grado de coma de Glasgow en el momento del ingreso son los predictores más potentes de muerte en los 30 primeros días.

    A: es el diámetro mayor
    B: perpendicular a A
    C: nº de cortes de 1 cm donde se observa el hematoma
