• Trastornos del sueño en la esquizofrenia: introducción

    Las dificultades en el inicio y mantenimiento del sueño son muy comunes en la esquizofrenia ( esq ). Las alteraciones del sueño aparecen tanto como síntomas iniciales de la enfermedad, como primeros signos de recaída.


    Los primeros estudios sobre el sueño en la esquizofrenia datan de la década de los 50, y principio de los 60 con autores como Demment (1955 ), Koresko y colab ( 1963), Feinberg y colab  y Rechtschaffen y colabs; no apareciendo los primeros datos positivos sobre trastornos de sueño y esquizofrania hasta el año 1965 con Feinberg y colab y  posteriormente con  Gulevich y colab, Caldwell y Domino y Zarcone y colab. La mayor parte de estas investigaciones hacen referencia a la existencia o no de rasgos diferenciales  en el sueño REM  de la esquizofrenia.
